RESPECTING THE PROCESS
In advance of the upcoming Municipal Planning Commission on October 28 we want to share a statement about concerning resident behavior that occurred during the October 14 meeting.
BWF members understand that many residents have differing views and opinions on the LC's recent proposal for the former UMCH property, and that this development causes emotions to run high. However, We condemn a resident comment about LC having a “learning disability,” which was made at the October 14th MPC/ARB meeting. We believe Worthington is an inclusive community and celebrates the differences in the opinions provided at public meetings. However, we encourage speakers to be civil, fact based, and avoid derogatory remarks.
Additionally, we do not believe that individuals who have different ideas for a piece of property should move away from Worthington simply because the type of development they are interested in for the LC site exists in nearby communities, as was suggested by a resident during the same MPC/ARB meeting.
We wholeheartedly support the recent Vision Statement for Worthington, “Worthington is a diverse and equitable community," and hope that we can continue to move towards that ideal as a city in the months and years to come
